Labelling of Organic products must include:
1. The Organic Logo of the European Union
2. The Indication of Origin
Each product must bear an indication from where the raw Organic products in that particular product originated.
Example:
• ‘EU-Agriculture’ :- Where the agricultural raw material has been farmed in the EU
• ‘Non-EU Agriculture’ :- Where the agricultural raw material has been farmed in third countries
• ‘EU/Non EU Agriculture’ :- Where part of the agricultural raw materials has been farmed in the Community and a part of it has been farmed in a third country.
• The indications ‘EU’ and ‘Non-EU’ may be replaced by a country where all agricultural raw materials used have been farmed in that country, E.g. Malta Agriculture.
3. The Control Body or Control Authority Code number
Please find here:
• The list of code numbers of control bodies and authorities from equivalent third countries
• The list of code numbers of Control authorities and control bodies in the EU/EEA/CH
The general format of the code number is MT-ORG-001, where MT is the ISO code of the country (Malta) where the control takes place, ORG is a term establishing a link with the organic production, such as “bio” or “org” or “eko/eco” and 001 is a reference number.
