Saviour Debono Grech was born in Malta, to Joe and Edith. He was appointed Director General, Rural Affairs in November 2020 and is responsible for the Agriculture and Plant Protection Directorates. He also serves as a member of the Planning Board within the Planning Authority since March 2020. He previously served as Director of Agriculture, between 2016 and 2020 with responsibility for areas such as the agriculture regulatory framework, agriculture policy and research, and viticulture and oenology. Served also as a member of the Agricultural Advisory Committee from September 2019 and also as a Chairman of the same Committee until March 2020. He holds a Fellowship from the Chartered Insurance Institute, London and has worked for over 16 years in the insurance industry. Saviour is married to Dorianne. He has a son, Stefano.
